Visiting Dallas?

Over the past three years of living downtown in the Big D, I’ve been lucky to shoot in a lot of really cool locations. When I first moved here, I spent a wholeee lotta time on Pinterest and scouring the internet to find some of the most picture-worthy local spots to visit. So in spirit of giving back to the online community that helped me navigate the city, here’s my contribution: the 5 best spots to take photos in Dallas.

The 5 Best Spots to Take Photos in Dallas

1. Trinity Groves

Trinity Groves is not only a fun spot to shop and grab a bite to eat, but it also boasts some of the prettiest views of the Dallas skyline. Between the vibrant storefronts, colorful common areas and the city backdrop itself, Trinity Groves is a must-add stop on your Dallas photo itinerary. Oh, and you’ll also be able to capture some great shots of the famous Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge from there too!

2. Deep Ellum

Deep Ellum is such a cool place. It’s artsy, funky, grungy, and filled with one-of-a-kind shops and delicious restaurants. You’ll also find a great bar scene and lots of live music in just about any genre you’re into. I’d recommend spending a full afternoon/night here, so you can take full advantage of what Deep Ellum has to offer as the day transitions into night. As far as photo spots go, you really can’t go wrong. There’s tons of crazy graffiti and artsy little storefronts on nearly every street.

3. The West End 

I may be a little biased because this is the part of town I live in, but I do think the West End offers a unique backdrop that you won’t find anywhere else in Dallas. The historic brick buildings give you an old industrial feel, and you’ll find hand-laid brick streets, horse-drawn carriage rides, and some great local eats. I actually shoot here often, as the area provides a great backdrop for lifestyle and branding photography.

4. Downtown – Commerce Street

If you’re willing to brave a bit of hectic downtown traffic and construction, you’ll see some of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The architecture is something to behold, and it’ll provide you with a fun, upscale look for your photos. We shot these right outside the famous Adolphus Hotel. (Also check out Otto’s, the adorable swanky little coffee shop in their lobby if you stop by!).

5. The Dallas Arboretum 

This is hands down, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. And the best part about it- it’s gorgeous year round. North Texas has such a great growing climate that the Arboretum is in bloom with different species of flowers all year long. The photos you’ll see below are all taken in the middle of February. Crazy, right? There are acres and acres of garden to see, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Although you have to pay to get in, I wanted to feature this stop on the list because it’s just simply too pretty to pass up.
