Being a commercial branding photographer based in Dallas has given me the opportunity to explore so many of the different types of photoshoot locations we have in the greater DFW area.

We’ve got a variety of indoor and outdoor locations that would suit the needs of just about any brand. When you’re choosing the right location for your commercial branding photoshoot, it’s important to pick a location that depicts the ideal lifestyle of your customer and is relatable to and connects with your target audience. Choosing a location can be difficult, and there are many variables to consider, so I’ve compiled a list of some of the different types of indoor and outdoor photoshoot locations in Dallas to help guide your decision.

Indoor Locations

Indoor locations are perfect for brands that want a more controlled and customizable environment for their branding photoshoot. These settings allow you to manipulate lighting, set design, and other elements to create a specific aesthetic that aligns with your brand’s identity. Here are some of indoor locations to consider for your next commercial branding photoshoot:

1. Studio Spaces:

Studio spaces are a great choice for indoor branding photoshoots because of their controlled environments and versatility. They are designed specifically for photography, giving you complete control over lighting, background, and atmosphere. Studios also offer the flexibility to build custom sets, using props and backdrops tailored to your brand’s needs. This control over your photoshoot environment communicates a sense of professionalism, attention to detail, and brand consistency. This makes studio spaces perfect for brands aiming to present a polished and cohesive image to their audience. One of my favorite photography studios is Brightside Studios in the Dallas Design District. You can check out other photography studios, in my blog, “7 Best Photography Studios for Rent in Dallas, TX.”

2. Residential Rentals:

Residential rentals offer an excellent indoor location option if you’re looking to create realistic imagery for your products or services. By choosing a residential rental for your branding photoshoot, you can create a sense of authenticity and relatability that allows your target audience to connect with your brand on a more personal level. This type of location is perfect for brands that want their images to convey a sense of comfort, familiarity, and everyday practicality, ultimately helping your audience to imagine how your product/service will fit into their lives. Check out Peerspace.com and search for homes – there are so many great options that fit just about any interior design aesthetic you could dream of!

3. Office Rentals:

Office rentals are best for brands that want to showcase a high level of professionalism in their branding photoshoots. Shooting in office rental spaces is perfect for conveying a sense of corporate sophistication, efficiency, and productivity. This type of location allows potential clients to visualize how your offerings can add to their own success and growth within a work environment.

4. Your Own Workspace:

Your very own workspace can also be an ideal location for an indoor commercial branding photoshoot, especially for brands that want to spotlight their unique story and build a deeper connection with their audience. This approach allows you to showcase your brand’s essence, offering an authentic view of your company culture, values, and daily operations. Choosing your workspace as the setting emphasizes your unique identity and builds trust by inviting your audience into the heart of your brand’s world. It also gives your customers/clients a glimpse into the experience they will have if they visit your brick and mortar location.

Outdoor Locations

Outdoor locations, on the other hand, are best for brands that prefer a more versatile, interactive and environmental look for their branding images. By choosing an outdoor location, you can make the most of the changing light, diverse landscapes, and interactive elements to take photos that capture the essence of your brand.

1. Cityscape:

A cityscape provides an excellent outdoor location choice for your brand if you’re looking to infuse your brand identity with a dynamic and lively atmosphere. The urban backdrop gives you a blend of architectural structures and busy streets, creating an energetic setting for branding photoshoots. If you’re looking for a great cityscape backdrop, try shooting in Uptown Dallas or shooting on the outskirts like the south side of Dallas to take advantage of our beautiful skyline!

2. Parks:

If you have a brand that embodies serenity and calm, a natural park is one of the best options for your branding photoshoot. The greenery in our DFW parks are a great backdrop for branding photoshoots. Choosing a park as your location communicates a sense of tranquility, balance, and harmony, making it ideal for brands that prioritize mindfulness, wellness, or a connection to nature.

3. Sport Courts:

Basketball, tennis courts and running tracks are perfect for athletic brands looking to highlight movement and physical activity. This type of location is ideal for athletic brands aiming to connect with customers who value physical activity, sports, and competition, helping them visualize how your products or services can support their own fitness goals and achievements.

4. Your OWN Workspace (EXTERIOR):

Just as your indoor workspace can work as a location for your branding photoshoot, the area surrounding your office or building offers a unique and relevant outdoor setting for capturing your brand’s identity. This approach showcases your brand within its natural environment, highlighting the context in which your company operates and providing customers with a relatable view of your business. This also helps them navigate their in-person experience when they visit your business location for the first time because they will know what to expect!
